Full Size Run is Sole Collector’s weekly sneaker talk and debate show featuring co-hosts Brendan Dunne, Matt Welty, and Trinidad James, and this week they’re joined by Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy on the heels of his new Netflix special, Comin’ in Hot, to talk about why Filipinos are obsessed with sneakers, why he loves Air Jordans, and he roasts Michael Jordan’s worst outfits.
Jo Koy’s teenage son would be understandably embarrassed to hear how his confusion about puberty is served up in this comedy special, shot in Hawaii. (Anticipating the kid’s reaction, Koy incorporates that into his act as well: “Does everything have to be a joke, dad? Come on, seriously.”) But Koy is an equal-opportunity mortifier, and everyone in his orbit is a target — including the audience.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Remember that hilarious viral video comedian Jo Koy made about Maui being the “world’s largest Toyota Tacoma dealership”?

Comedian Jo Koy has been a name in the industry since the early 1990s, but says that his career didn’t truly ‘pop’ until Netflix bought his self-produced special, ‘Jo Koy: Live from Seattle.’ He takes a break from his highly-successful ‘Break The Mold’ world tour to talk about the comedy business with Cheddar.
Talking about his phenomenal success — the on-going world tour, the recent Just for Laughs’ “Stand-Up Comedian of the Year” honor, his upcoming animated series — Jo Koy keeps saying “I can’t believe it. I can’t believe it.”
But he does believe. He believes in himself and his comedy, which is why he decided to take his destiny into his own hands and produce his own one-hour comedy special.
Comedian Jo Koy continues to charm and entertain his ever-growing fan base with constant touring, a weekly podcast and new comedy specials. And he may be the nicest person CULTURE has ever met! The veteran comic greets everyone with an enormous hug, a smile and infectious positivity.
