Jo Koy has been making thousands laugh at his sold-out concerts at the Blaisdell, but the city made the comedian cry.
Koy sold out 11 shows as thousands snapped up tickets to see the comedian in action.
The city told Koy he broke a Honolulu record for a single performer’s ticket sales at the Blaisdell with over 23-thousand sold.
Honolulu issued a proclamation that November 24, 2017 was Jo Koy Day, and it moved the comedian to tears.FULL STORY
Jo Koy is a comedian, not a hula dancer, but his impression of the hula was as kolohe as the real thing Sunday evening as he opened the first of an unprecedented 11 sold-out performances by a single entertainer in the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Koy’s faux hula was just one example of the diversity of his repertoire. Koy sang bits and pieces of R&B hits from the 1990s, demonstrated how he used to entertain his mother’s friends — at her insistence — with his version of Michael Jackson’s moonwalk.FULL STORY

Comedy fans hear about stars who start from humble beginnings, and that’s definitely true of Jo Koy. Starting out in a coffeehouse in Las Vegas, the Washington state native quickly made a name for himself and is now a top live attraction. Koy performs on Nov. 17 at Silver Legacy.
Koy was born Joseph Glenn Herbert in 1971. The stage name Jo Koy is a nickname he had growing up as a Filipino-American, and his family life often figures into this stand-up routines.FULL STORY
Jo Koy could be working for a casino resort now instead of headlining its stage – and then some – had he not followed his dream and dropped out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, to pursue stand-up comedy.
It hasn’t hurt to have the support of people like Chelsea Handler and Adam Carolla from an early stage, either.
He’s made the transition from Las Vegas coffeehouses to an upcoming eight-night run at Honolulu’s 2,180-capacity Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall – with talks for up to three additional dates underway at press time.FULL STORY
Filipinos love to laugh. That is what Fil-Am stand-up comedian Joseph Glenn Herbert, who is better known as Jo Koy (or, to those who’ve seen his act, “Josep”), has observed from his own extended family and from the audiences of his sold-out shows. Fresh from the success of his Netflix comedy special, he is coming home soon to perform his brand of comedy in Manila and Cebu (his mom isn’t coming with him, though).FULL STORY
Jo Koy, a comedian whose show airs on Netflix and is popular for his jokes about growing up with his Filipino mother in the US, is coming to the Philippines.
He’s scheduled to perform at The Theatre at Solaire in Manila on November 30 and December 3 and at the Atlantic Hall of Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu on December 1.
“I’m coming to the motherland you guys. Can’t wait to see you!” Jo Koy said in his Facebook video announcing the dates.
A comedian is proving incredibly popular in Hawaii.
Jo Koy is performing at the Neal S. Blaisdell Concert Hall in November.
He’s already sold out eight shows and recently added a ninth performance.
“I called Blaisdell. I told them, ‘Give me one more date!’ ‘Done!’ Show nine, I’m adding it. This is for you guys. I love you,” Koy said in a video message posted on social media.
Comedian Jo Koy has added a ninth concert, scheduled for 8 p.m. Nov. 27, adding to a string of sold-out concerts between Nov. 20 and Nov. 26 at Blaisdell Concert Hall.
“I don’t know what’s going on right now, but Hawaii, this is love,” Koy said, in a video posted on Facebook Saturday. “I was only supposed to do one show at the Blaisdell. Let’s add show two. Sold out. Show three — sold out. Four, five, six…
Comedian Jo Koy’s Nov. 26 show at Blaisdell Concert Hall sold out so quickly — before tickets were even offered to the general public — that a second show that same evening was added. The frenzy continued, with more performances added, and after essentially selling out six shows, scheduled for Nov. 24, 25 and 26, he has announced a seventh comedy concert, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20.FULL STORY
